The Enhance Social Enterprise Network has been created to support social enterprise network development across Devon, Plymouth, Torbay and Somerset. Creating strong social enterprise networks helps to develop a healthy ecosystem for social enterprise growth and development. We want to ensure that all social enterprise networks across Devon and Somerset flourish. This helps achieve a better economy for us all.
Social enterprises are businesses that set out to create positive social change.
Like traditional businesses they aim to make a profit but it’s what they do with their profit that sets them apart; reinvesting or donating it to create positive social change.
Social enterprises are in our communities, on our smart phones and on our high streets – from coffee shops and cinemas, to pubs and leisure centres, banks and bus companies. Famous examples include Big Issue, Divine Chocolate and the Eden Project.
Not sure if you qualify as a potential member? If you’re a commercial organisation but do socially conscious things with your profits, then you probably do! Why not apply to join here and your local member network will confirm your eligibility and help you through the process.
We are continuing to develop this website with its map and directory showing the array of goods and services available locally from social enterprises across Devon, Plymouth, Torbay and Somerset. We are encouraging all our members to claim their listing so that they can personalise their page and use it to maximum effect. To claim your listing, simply find your business in the directory and click on ‘claim your listing’.
We’ve also been hosting a series of local events, some in person and, since March 2020, online events. Our aim is to support the social enterprise sector to strengthen financial planning, develop and launch products, secure new business and investigate digital solutions for future growth. We also now have a keen focus on helping social enterprises emerge from the Covid-19 lockdown and navigate their way to recovery.
